Hey there,

I recently broke my finger…….and although it “just” seems like a finger, things became 10 times harder. Daily activities that took me like 30 seconds to accomplish now takes me 5 minutes. I really wanted to recover as fast as possible, so although I knew time would eventually heal everything, I researched about some tips to help me out. This post is all about those “tips”.

P.S. These are just tips, to help the bones heal faster. These are mainly helpful for fractures.

1. Stop Smoking

♥Blood flow/circulation is important to bone recoveries because it carries necessary nutrients and nutrients to the broken bones, and smoking affects this process. Patients who smoke have a slower recovery than non-smokers.

2. Increase Calorie Intake (Provide sufficient energy for your body)

♥You may think this sounds ridiculous. But it is true that the healing process requires a lot of energy. An adult normally requires around 2,500 calories per day, but a person with severe bone fractures may need up to 6,000 calories in a day! This doesn’t mean you should eat 5 cakes (not slices, but whole cakes); you should fill your diet with healthy food.

3. Healthy Food! (Calcium, Protein, Vitamin)

  • Calcium is essential to bone growth and health, but don’t eat too much…
  • Calcium absorption is dependent on vitamin D, so for the best fracture healing, both calcium and vitamin D should be consumed in abundance every day.
  • Vitamin C is essential for bone collagen matrix. It’s proven that higher intake of vitamin C accelerates fracture healing and develops stronger bone repair.
  • Bones are made up of “living” protein, and lack of protein will result a soft bone callus rather than the rigid ones necessary for bone strength.

Fill your diet with these healthy food:

4. Exercise

♥Again, you might be surprised that you should exercise when you have an injury. The healing process requires good blood circulation, and a satisfactory flow of nutrient replenishing blood to the fracture area. However, do not put stress on the fracture. In other words, if you have a fracture on your leg, do not run. But, if you have a finger fracture like me, you add jog, walk, or run.

5. Massage/Therapy

♥This is optional I think, but AFTER the bone is healed and you have a hard time doing a full range motion, try massaging it.
